And it begins...again.

And with tomorrow's setting sun, another summer comes to an end. I have dutifully prodded my son (9) into doing a bit of "gear the brain up again" practice work in writing and reading for the past 2 weeks. I have also started putting the kids into bed closer to their "school year" routine time.

My son called me "mean" for making him go to bed tonight. Wow. Never thought I'd hear that. LOL

Then, there's my daughter. *sniff...sniff*

WAH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

She's starting Pre-K on Friday. I am not amused by this. My littlest has her Princess back pack ready stuffed with her supplies. Both of her granma's have spent money on her school wardrobe (and Bubba's too...). She has declared herself to be smart enough.

Momma, however, is a different story. I'll be a wreck come Friday morning as I drop her off for her very first day. There's something about a child starting school that just speeds up their aging process. I swear it feels like only yesterday that my son started elementary, and now, he's starting 4th grade! EEEP!

Ok, enough wallowing in my pity party. Here's a picture of Herself being her silly. This will be my reminder that she will always be My Little Girl.

Quit monkeying around, will you!???

I've been cleaning out my craft supplies and craft table. You'd be surprised what you can find squirreled away in a corner somewhere. I found a set of men's work socks stuck in the back of a drawer. Well, what can you do with men's socks?

SOCK MONKEY!

This little guy caused quite a bit of chaos while I was working on him. He knocked my pin cushion off of the table several times, caused my needles to unthread by pulling away from me while I was working, hid my t.v. remote...you get the picture. Then, I had him all set up to take a nice respectable picture and I catch him sitting on top of my sewing machine. I guess he thought it was a horsey? Who knows? What kind of other trouble will he cause?

In the end, it doesn't really matter though does it? Who doesn't love a sock monkey?

A little birdy told me...

Well, no, the bird didn't actually say anything and I don't have any good gossip to share from said bird.

However, he did chirp at me through a friend's Wist! He said "Make ME! Make ME!" I just had to do as I was told...for once. ;)

I stitched this piece up last week. I love the way the red just pops out of the picture at you as well as the swirls in the background.

I used split, back and running stitches. The branch and bird are crayon tinted.

A Sweet Tweet!

No, I'm not tweeting on twitter. That is a popular trend that I'll never do...

This blog entry is about a sweet little birdy love embroidery that I made for my partner in a swap on Craftster. It's worked on linen and if you look closely, you'll see all sorts of stitches...french knots, chain, split, stem, button hole, seed, long arm cross, running and lazy daisy. The sky back ground and branches are tinted.

I love the way this piece turned out. :)

Holy Hedge Hog!

I whipped this little guy up today. So quick, easy and just really darned cute! I've never been one to use tons of pin cushions, but he might change my mind. :D

No, I have no idea why this hedge hog is male. LOL

The pattern for this pin cushion can be found here.

Where have you been!!?!!

Sorry for the lack of updates. I've spent the past 2 weeks on vacation. I was able to hold my newest nephew, Carter, who was less than a 12 hrs old. The kids spent days splashing in the pool at my In Laws. My husband lounged by the afternoon fire with a cold beverage pestering his younger brother and dad. We had a great time!

The very best part of it all was....our anniversary! Tim and I have been together for 6 years as of July 15. Mr. Sneaky planned an overnight get away and then whisked me away to the Hillbrook Inn in Summit Point, WV. We had a wonderful time. It was super relaxing and so beautiful! We're already planning to go back next year. :D

Here's a shot of the room that we had while there!
