My Breakfast Bag!

With the start of another school year, I made myself a promise. Make myself a real breakfast every morning. This will help me stay out of the drive thru and away from the vending machines, but this wasn't an easy as it seemed. I have two kids of my own and I cook a hot breakfast for them but in the rush and chaos, I wasn't remembering to do the same for myself. I decided I needed an incentive so I made myself a breakfast bag! (Yes, it could be a lunch bag but that's just not as special. ;) )

I repurposed an old pair of denim capris that had some cute machine embroidery on the hem and using this tutorial for a boxy pouch as a basis, I made a couple of modifications to make it fit my needs. I increased the size of the pattern and added a layer of insulbright between the exterior fabric and the lining and handles. I also used the machine embroidered hems to make cute little pockets.

The result is PERFECT!!! It easily holds one of those rectangular Gladware containers and I could even fit in a bag of cut up fruit on the side. I can't wait to give this a try next week! :D

Great idea, T. And great looking bag it is, too. Whenever we go to the beach or walk around the nearby mountains, it'd be good to have some munchies and nibbles (hopefully I'd pack healthy ones) for after the walk. Even a thermos could fit inside there.

Thanks for the inspiration. When I have a few free hours without any distractions, I'm going to have a go at making this.

Enjoy the rest of your weekend, T.
